ELS Sailing & Services has been founded in 2003 in since then is established on the market as a leader in the marine trade and service business. The company has 25 employees working in the different divisions and operates a sailing and service center comprising of 54 m berthing key equipped with electricity and water, boatyard of more then 1300 sq.m. for specialized for yacht service, trade center, sail loft and various maintenance facilities.

ELS is General Sponsor of Sailing Team Pontos. Sailing Team Pontos has been founded on February 9th, 2002 from a group of enthusiasts’ sailors: Nikola Dukov (president), Doli Yankova, Plamen Georgiev, Tinko Trifonov, Borislav Gucanov, Julia Gelezova and Pavel Dukov. The name is derived from the ancient name of Black Sea – Pontos. The Club is licensed in the national register of the Licensed Sport Organizations as a member of the official national authority the Bulgarian Sailing Federation.

From 2002 until 2005 the club emphasized on windsurfing in its racing professional version – slalom 42 and formula windsurfing earning numerous national titles and attending the professional windsurfing tour in 2003-04 with top 30 finishes and 21st place in the overall standings in the 2003 pro world tour for Pavel Dukov and 12th overall in the open Euro slalom championship in 2005.

In the end of 2003 Pontos commenced its activity in sailing by recruiting two of the top Bulgarian sailors Kalin Gerorgiev and Bogomil Pehlivanov as well as buying two Conrad 25 boats for the national circuit. Eventually the latter along with crew member Pavel Dukov delivered the first IMS cruiser racer from Slovenia – Bavaria 42 match PETRA owned by ELS Sailing & Services (title sponsor of the club until now) in order to represent the club internationally on a top level. In 2005 after major reorganization Pontos 2005 started its international activities by attending the Aegean regatta and the European IMS championship thus starting an ambitious program for the future. In 2006 Petra was fully renovated with the assistance of Yates Alemanes (Palma de Mallorca based German team consisting from America’s cup sailors from Desafio Espanol and German AC Team) which brought a stream of successes with 4th in the Aegean regatta and 4th overall in the IMS World Championship in Crete (Corinthian world title). In 2007 the team confirmed its prosper by winning the IMS International Sailing Week and just missing to win the Aegean regatta eventually taking the 4th place by just 1 minute on corrected time. From 2004 instill 2008 Pontos has stamped its authority on a national level by regular top 3 finishes and numerous wins in the Conrad 25 class by its two boats Quantum Racing and Pontos.

Here are some of the names and major players of Pontos in the years: Nikola Dukov (skipper of PETRA and president of YCC Pontos, multiple windsurfing champion in the period 1985-1991), Angel Dukov (sailor and major supporter ), Kristalin Karatsonev (Conrad 25 sailor from 1986, innovative windsurfer , kite surfer, designer, sail maker ), Atanas Ivanov(famous 470 and keel boat sailor), Dobrin Stoianov (legend in BG windsurfing in the eighties, 470 sailor), Tatiana Chaneva , Pavel Dukov, Pavel Nenov, Miroslav and Nikolay Stanevi, Diman Kunev, Vladimir Arabadjiev and others.

In 2008 Pontos Sailing Team plans to attend the top Aegean regattas: Porto Carras SW IRC; IMS, Aegean Regatta IRC; IMS , Bosphorus Cup IRC and the major competition IMS WORLDS in Athens as well as the full national circuit in Bulgaria in IRC and Conrad 25 OD.

Sailing Team Pontos is major supporter in implementing the IRC and constituting the OD rules of Conrad 25.
